Dear Valued Customer,

Referring to the implementation of Advance Manifest Transmission for all China- import and - export cargoes as well as for cargoes transhipped via China ports with effect from January 1st 2009 which was recently announced by Chinese Customs Authorities.

According to the new rule, Chinese Customs require carriers to submit full details of shipments to/from/via China. The information should be sent to Chinese Customs 24 hours before vessels estimated time of arrival (ETA) at the loading port.

China Customs informed that they expected to complete their own system development by November when both internal and external testing conducted, however this has not yet been confirmed.  We have not got any further information (e.g. EDI-format, transmission details, etc.) but Carriers will announce their service guideline and related cut-off schedule as soon as more details are known.

Due to the limited time until implementation date, we expect that a grace period will be granted.
